River Expedition
Deh Cho Semester
Students on the Deh Cho River semester will travel by six-person voyageur and tandem canoes up the Dehcho (Mackenzie) River, making stops in Jean Marie River, Fort Simpson, Wrigley, Tulita, Norman Wells and Fort Good Hope. A team of Dechinta, Elder and local land-user instructors will share important knowledge about the Deh Cho and Sahtu regions along with skills for being on the land, such as moosehide tanning.

July 4: Participants meet in Fort Providence
July 7: Leave for Jean Marie River
July 13-18: Jean Marie River Immersion Camp with DehCho First Nations
July 19: Leave for Fort Simpson
July 21-22: Joint camp with Liidii Kue First Nation, Community Symposium
July 23: Leave for Wrigley
July 27-28: Wrigley Community Symposium
July 29: Leave for Tulita
August 4-5: Tulita Community Symposium
August 6: Leave for Norman Wells
August 7-8: Overnight in Norman Wells
August 8: Leave for Fort Good Hope
August 12-15: Fort Good Hope Community Symposium, Dechinta Debrief
August 16: Participants travel home
